Govt retires 32 former DCs who served during 2018 national election
The government has sent 32 officers, who served as deputy commissioners (DCs) during the controversial 2018 11th parliamentary election on forced retirement.
All of them were promoted to joint secretary during the Awami League regime and were made officers on special duty (OSD) after the July Uprising.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued separate notifications on Monday night, announcing their retirement. According to the rules, the officers will receive retirement benefits.
The notifications stated that the officers had completed 25 years of service and the government deemed it necessary to retire them in the public interest. They were retired under Section 45 of the Sarkari Chakri Ain, 2018.
Among the ones sent on compulsory retirement are Netrokona DC Moinul Islam, Cumilla DC Md Abul Fazal Mir, Bandarban DC Mohammad Daudul Islam, Natore DC Md Shahriar, Chandpur DC Md Majedur Rahman Khan, Shariatpur DC Kazi Abu Taher, Chapainawabganj DC A Z M Nurul Haq, Mymensingh DC Md Mizanur Rahman, Chattogram DC Mohammad Elius Hossain, Lakshmipur DC Anjan Chandra Pal, Rangamati DC A K M Mamunur Rashid, Cox’s Bazar DC Md Kamal Hossain, Kushtia DC Md Aslam Hossain, Sherpur DC Anar Koli Mahbub, Manikganj DC S M Ferdous, Chuadanga DC Gopal Chandra Das, Khagrachhari DC Md Shahidul Islam, Feni DC Md Wahiduzzaman, Barishal DC S M Ajior Rahman, Bhola DC Mohammad Masud Alam Siddique, Patuakhali DC Md Motiul Islam Chowdhury, Sunamganj DC Md Abdul Ahad, Pabna DC Md Jasim Uddin, Jhenaidah DC Saroj Kumar Nath, Nilphamari DC Nazia Shirin, Rajshahi DC S M Abdul Kader, Magura DC Md Ali Akbar, Habiganj DC Mahmudul Kabir Murad, Kishoreganj DC Md Sarwar Murshed Chowdhury, Narsingdi DC Syeda Farhana Kawnine, Khulna DC Mohammad Helal Hossain, and Kurigram DC Mst Sultana Pervin.
Prior to this, the government placed 13 high-ranking BCS (Police) cadre officers on forced retirement on April 22; 33 officers on July 5; and 17 officers on July 23.
